    An Italian take on vanilla chocolate chip. Premium dark chocolate is melted and poured into the ice cream maker towards at the end of the churning process. As the melted chocolate hits the ice cream it solidifies and gets “torn up” by the blades into tiny shreds. Hence the name stracciattella (from the Italian word “stracciare,” which means “to tear”).
